Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental Protection

The beach is cleaned daily and guests are invited to participate in this initiative. Turtle eggs laid in front of the resort are protected, harvested and shielded until they hatch; guests are encouraged to join a turtle release ceremony and partecipate in this unique experience. Cleaning products and detergents are biodegradable, and mosquito repellent are 100% natural. To conserve energy, the resort is in the process of changing all lights to LED. Packaging waste (glass, paper, plastic) is separated and recycled, and the resort is installing a water filtering and bottling plant to eliminate single-use plastic. Waste water is used for watering the gardens.

Social Responsibility

85% of employees are locally recruited and only local guides are hired. Fresh produce are sourced from local farm. Locally-made organic amenities are provided in the guest rooms in locally produced refillable ceramic bottles. The resort actively donate to regional environmental and philanthropic organisations. Key to this is Team 8, run by dedicated LHM employees, and funded by donations from guests to support a local school and kindergarten, a therapy centre for children with cerebral palsy, and a local elderly home. The resort and boutique showcase local artists and Indonesian artefacts, and an annual traditional Balinese celebration known as Odalan is held in the hotel grounds. The Hindu village community comes together, inviting the gods to visit them for three or more days, perform religious services and offer refreshments and entertainment. Guests are encouraged to join and experience how locals celebrate this special occasion.
