Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental Responsibility

Since 2016, The Alpina Gstaad has been producing its own honey together with the organisation Citizen Bees with 5 beehives located on the hotel grounds. The honey produced on the hotel grounds is used in the kitchen and it is availabe for sale. Following his passion for efficient kitchen management principles, hotel's Executive Chef Martin Göschel has introduced the Zero-Waste philosophy. Tasty vegan alternatives remain a viable option for many visiting guests who can indulge in such delicious meals at our Alpina Lounge & Bar, while more elaborate vegan gourmet dishes can be savoured at Sommet. The Alpina partakes in an initiative of the local cable car company. Hotel's guests have the possibility to donate their usual deposit of ski passes (CHF 5) for the compensation of CO2. The Swiss company Climeworks uses this contribution to filter 5kg of CO2 from the air and either store it permanently underground or invest it in the further processing of CO2-neutral fuels and materials.

Community Empowerment

The Alpina Gstaad hosts its own permanent art collection installed throughout the hotel and grounds. It includes works by many of the leading artists of the twenty - first century, which explore the interplay between technology, identity, and the natural world. We use art also as an expression of Creative Activism where several artworks portray artists who are particularly concerned with environmental and social activism.
