About The Hotel

The Sabi Sand Game Reserve is one of the most prestigious wildlife sanctuaries in the world, neighbouring the Kruger National Park. It is famed for its leopards and incredible wildlife. The uniqueness of the lodge is its ideal positioning on the Sand River with exclusive access to the riverbed.

The lodge has been designed to ensure magnificent river views from all angles. Private decks and al fresco sitting areas are the ideal places to view wildlife using your Swarovski Optik binoculars as herds of elephants congregate in the riverbed and game roam across the landscape.

In addition to incredible leopard viewing, the famous Big Five, rhino and cheetah, guests can discover a vast variety of plant and animal species that share the land with the Kruger National Park and encounter a few of the over 500 bird species, 145 animal species, 110 reptile species and 45 fish species.

Sustainable Initiatives

Animal conservation

By staying with us at Tengile, guests are indirectly contributing to various conservation initiatives across the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, from anti-poaching missions and general wildlife management, to specific projects, such as The Southern Ground Hornbill Monitoring and Support Programme, and The Leopard Conservation Project, which focuses on the active research, monitoring and identifying of leopards, in partnership with Panthera. Along with Africa Foundation, Tengile works closely with the neighbouring communities of Lilydale, Huntington, and Justicia, employing locally and investing in community education, healthcare and small business development. Sustainability practices are a daily priority at Tengile including elimination of plastic bottles and a focus on energy-saving initiatives.
