About The Hotel

Tabacon was inaugurated in late 1997, with 42 comfortable guest rooms. This marked the official beginning of Arenal as an international destination. Today the resort embraces 900 acres of lush tropical reserve, home to Costa Rica’s largest network of naturally flowing hot springs with a world-class hospitality experience.

The spa experience at Tabacon offers what is truly the most perfect match between spa design and nature. Spa treatments are rendered al-fresco in outdoors bungalows tucked away among the trees. The scents of the rainforest become an essential part of your wellness experience blending perfectly with the ubiquitous sounds of wildlife and the relaxing hot springs sounds.

Tabacon offers memorable dining experiences in an open air, full-service ambience surrounded by the untouched tropical rainforest of the Arenal Volcano Region. Our chefs and culinary team masterfully blend local flavors, traditional recipes, and international cuisine to create innovative plates that evoke local traditions and utilize regional ingredients.

Sustainable Initiatives

Environmentally Responsible

The social responsibility actions conducted by Tabacon are based on the pillars of education, health and socioeconomic development of the neighboring communities. Tabacòn complies with environmental laws and regulations, setting goals and monitoring progress toward energy, carbon, water and waste reduction, as well as responsible procurement. Since 2018 the hotel has been adopting industry best practices, and embracing innovation to enhance operational efficiency. The hotel has started Solar Energy Project with the installation of 836 photovoltaic panels in 2020. Over the years, consistent efforts have been made to switch to LED lighting. The team works with local organizations to manage excess waste as a result of daily operations by recycling and composting.

FeedFortuna Campaign

As an initiative of the Tabacon team, motivated by the great need for food in families in the tourism sector, the #FeedFortuna campaign was launched. Through the “Fundación Amigos de Costa Rica” donations platform, the hotel launched a fundraising process with the participation of several community allies and loyal clients. The campaign was carried out in partnership with the Fortuna Integral Development Association (ADIFORT) who delivered food to over 500 families.
