About The Hotel

Tucked into the banks of the Sweni River, this intimate lodge is a hidden jewel that provides a bold, new African context for contemporary design, architecture and cuisine.

Seven suites are hidden among a canopy of trees, each featuring open-plan interiors. A generously stocked minibar, two bathrooms and an outdoor shower overlooking the river – adding to the feeling of being enveloped by an ancient forest.

Guests have private access to 33,000 acres of pristine wilderness in the world-renowned Kruger National Park, ensuring unforgettable game-viewing experiences. With the lodge’s proximity to the river, guests are also treated to up-close sightings of numerous animals and birds frequenting the area to drink or wallow in the water.

Sustainable Initiatives

Animal conservation

In South Africa, the Singita Lowveld Trust manages a wide range of conservation projects in Singita Sabi Sand and Singita Kruger National Park – from anti-poaching initiatives to wildlife research & land management, sustainability efforts and community partnership projects such as early childhood development, digital learning and a world-class culinary school. A highly skilled team of tracking dogs and handlers enhance anti-poaching efforts in the Sabi Sand Reserve, while the Trust’s partnership with the global conservation NGO Panthera has shown that the area is home to the largest density of leopards of any protected area surveyed in South Africa. The Panthera’s Furs for Life project – of which Singita is a partner – has reduced the demand for leopard skins with 50%.

Singita is a part of the international network of organisations using Bioregional’s One Planet Living framework. Singita's One Planet Action Plan has been endorsed by Bioregional as demonstrating leadership in One Planet Living. Creating safe, equitable places to live and work which support local prosperity and international fair trade. Singita seeks to procure locally, not only to reduce carbon miles but also to support local economies. Nurturing local identity and heritage, empowering communities and promoting a culture of sustainable living. Singita keeps local culture alive within lodges through design and promting local artists and artisans.

Environmental Protection and Conservation

Singita is protecting and restoring land for the benefit of people and wildlife by taking care of biodiversity both in the broader reserves and within the grounds of all lodges. Using water efficiently, protecting local water resources and reducing flooding and drought, Singita strives to monitor the health of the water sources and be as efficient as possible with water use. Promoting sustainable humane farming and healthy diets high in local, seasonal organic food and vegetable protein. Singita is sourcing food locally and growing food on-site for a fresh and low carbon mile food offering. All structures are seeking to be as efficient as possible by reducing fuel consumption and are striving to use materials for construction and operations that are local and environmentally friendly. The reserve works on reducing consumption, reusing and recycling as to achieve zero waste and zero pollution by maximising recycling with minimal waste to landfill. Singita is aming to reach zero carbon energy by moving to renewable energy sources at all properties.
