About The Hotel

The Negev Desert is the epitome of desert landscapes and offers a host of activities from discovering archaeological and natural landmarks right through to extreme sports, family-inclusive pursuits such as camel or jeep safaris and excursions to the Red Sea.

The Red Canyon in the Eilat Mountains is one of Israel’s most beautiful yet accessible hiking trails. Twenty minutes north of Eilat, the Red Canyon offers an undisturbed hike through the natural canyons. The Red Canyon gets its name from the phenomenon which occurs when sunlight hits the reddish rock that lines the canyon, giving it an intense reddish color.

60 suites and pool villas have been thoughtfully designed and integrated into the desert topography to preserve the natural terrain. Six Senses luxury hotel in Israel features villas that are built from and inspired by local rocks and pigments, with many furnishing elements sourced from a partnership with local community artisans.

Six Senses Shaharut offers a creative approach to cuisine, combining the best of Israeli and Mediterranean influences while embracing the Eat With Six Senses philosophy of local, fresh and seasonal produce. Where possible, ingredients are harvested from the resort’s organic gardens and carefully selected farmers at the nearby kibbutzim. We are also respectful of local culture and traditions and, while we are not kosher certified, we avoid serving ingredients such as pork and shellfish.

Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental Protection

The first hotel in Israel to achieve LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Based on sustainable design and construction, which seamlessly blends the hotel structure into the landscape, the hotel achieves a 25 percent reduction in energy consumption. Food waste is composted to feed organic garden and water is bottled on site to avoid plastic. Used cooking oil from the kitchen is donated to make biodiesel in the community. The hotel has zero discharge of liquids into the environment, using a palm grove to absorb 100 percent of treated wastewater on site. Guests are encouraged to visit the Earth Lab to learn about the resort's sustainability efforts to reduce consumption, produce locally, and support local communities and ecosystems. Guests can also take part in workshops and engage with local community members who share their knowledge of local desert craftmanship and sustainability. In all Six Senses resorts, still and sparkling drinking water is produced and bottled on-site in glass bottles. We have partnered with BevGuard® brand filter to enhance our existing water supply and produce high quality drinking water without the use of plastic bottles.
