Sustainable Initiatives

Environmentally Conscious

As a result of sustainable planning, the resort blends into the natural vegetation, creating an environment that has become a paradise for birds and butterflies on land, and marine life underwater. So far, butterfly conservation program has recorded 23 species on the island, eight of which we are conserving through hotel's pupae project in partnership with a local NGO, Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre. Six Senses has launched Reef Protection Training Course run by four local dive instructors.The hotel also integrates conservation into Grow with Six Senses children's activities, which encourage future generations to become responsible individuals too.

Culture and Conservation

Sustainability is at the heart of resort's core values, focused on conserving the native flora and fauna for generations to come, embracing the unique culture and traditions of Cambodia, employing local hosts and giving back to the local community. Join the team to see their sustainability initiatives in action and how we create zero waste and eliminate plastic at resort's Earth Lab, come along to Marine Biology 101 or our butterfly conservation activities, and help support community education and marine conservation projects.

Farm to table

The resort has a 40,000 square feet (3,700 square meter) organic farm on the mainland in which seasonal, local produce is grown for kitchen ingredients, thus encouraging a farm-to-table practice. They keep 150 chickens for fresh eggs, eight goats for milk, and three pigs to responsibly dispose of any food waste. The farm team also coordinates with the non-profit association AllKids to establish 10 dedicated vegetable beds to grow and supply fresh produce to 60 daycare children.
