About The Hotel

As the gateway to the east and site of some of the Kingdom’s earliest settlements, Bumthang is home to many ancient monasteries and sacred monuments. This region is known for its four valleys, covered in pristine forests and meandering rivers, dotted with quaint villages, lush pastures and farming fields.

Set in pine forest above a bubbling, trout-filled stream, Six Senses Bumthang immerses guests in the natural beauty of its surroundings, honoring the natural environment rather than impacting it. The lodge’s eight suites and one two-bedroom villa feature spacious balconies and calming forest views across the valley.

Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental and Social Responsibility

Six Senses quickly became recognized as the hospitality industry’s pioneer of sustainable practices, demonstrating that responsibility can be successfully wedded to uncompromised high-end facilities. The resort is committed to the local environment, wildlife and communities and it is engaged with 29 community members to support various activities. Sustainability is the foundation for all operations and it is reflected through the management of energy, water, waste, purchasing and chemical usage and engagement with local communities. The resort is passionate about preserving the world’s only carbon-negative country. The resort’s entire energy supply comes from hydropower, and staff work tirelessly to recycle products and protect the local environment. Water is bottled at the on-site reverse-osmosis facility, and there’s an organic garden where vegetables are grown for the restaurant.

Plastic free

At Six Senses, this means going beyond banning single-use plastic and unnecessary waste by implementing a policy to become Zero Waste and Plastic Free, uncovering solutions that have not yet been created and promoting a de-plasticized lifestyle by providing more sustainable alternatives. Joining the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative is another step in this direction to address the root causes of plastic pollution. It enables businesses and governments to take concerted action and lead by example.
