About The Hotel

Shinta Mani Wild was born when world-renowned designer Bill Bensley identified an unprotected, 400-acre wildlife corridor – and set out to save it from poaching, mining and logging. This remote nature reserve is located in a river valley between three of Cambodia's oldest parks: Kirirom, Bokor and Cardamom.

Each tent has its own colorful Cambodian design scheme and is kitted out with antique curios, vintage books and custom-made furniture.

Meals are served either in your tent, or in the Waterfall Restaurant where the locally sourced food is provided and served by graduates of the Shinta Mani Foundation program. The foundation provides training and jobs for young local people and is supported by all Shinta Mani hotels in Cambodia. The Landing Zone bar is the perfect location to mingle with other guests and unwind after a day of trekking in the jungle, or exploring the waterways, previously untouched by tourism. The resort also offers a central swimming pool, and a zipline.

Activities are focussed on exploring and understanding the natural surrounds, and include trekking, kayaking, river safaris, foraging for local ingredients, and assisting the rangers with checking camera traps and studying the flora and fauna.

Animal and Environmental Conservation

Shinta Mani Wild is a radical new fusion of world-class design, hospitality and conservation where your stay makes a difference in protecting unique and endangered species. Besides having a low environmental impact, the resort protects wildlife thanks to the Shinta Mani Foundation and the NGO Wildlife Alliance. This hotel stems from an idea of architect and interior designer Bill Bensley, who, after buying government land intended for deforestation, decided to safeguard the territory by transforming it into a magical and relaxing place. Encouraged by its successful sustainable organic farming project in Cambodia, which was trialled in early 2000s, as well as a growing movement towards farm-to-fork dining concepts, Shinta Mani Foundation has expanded the scope of its efforts. A new 9.9-acre plot of land in Siem Reap’s Doun Ounn Village now joins the Foundation’s existing 4.9-acre farm in Takos Village, some 30 minutes from Shinta Mani hotels. Managed by a team of three locals, the farm grows a wide variety of crops, such as basil, eggplants, morning glory and sugar cane. Harvests are used in the Shinta Mani hotels and staff canteen as well as sold to other hotels and the community. Over at the Bensley Collection – Shinta Mani Wild within the Southern Cardamom National Park, a large organic farm and free-range chicken run to supply eggs have been created. The farm comprises vegetable and herb gardens, a cocktail and spa garden, and a plant nursery area. These plots support the camp’s commitment to sustainability and local sourcing efforts, with as much of their produce as possible coming from local and small farmers.
