About The Hotel

San Camp provides a complete desert experience on the edge of the legendary Makgadikgadi Pans. Six white canvas tents, set in a dramatic location, create an oasis of civilisation in the starkly beautiful environment. Viewed through the tent flaps, the serene salt pans run endlessly into the horizon.

The concession adjoins the Makgadikgadi National Park, with its endless vistas of golden, rolling grasslands, quad bike excursions that venture far into the heart of the wilderness and exploring remote archaeological sites. Morning walks and game drives accompanied by experienced guides and local Bushmen provide a glimpse of the unique fauna and flora. Once the day’s adventures are over, mouth-watering meals are served in a central dining pavilion or beneath a star studded sky that casts an enchanted atmosphere over the camp.

Environmental Conservation and Social Responsibility

Natural Selection was founded on the basis of its commitment to environmental conservation and the need to protect Africa’s important wildlife areas for the benefit of future generations. They are equally committed to community outreach and implement community outreach projects in villages in close proximity to the camps, which reflects the goal of improving the livelihoods of communities living alongside wildlife. 1.5% of every guest’s stay at Natural Selection camps is committed to regional conservation and community outreach initiatives. In addition to this contribution, Natural Selection has introduced a Conservation, Community and Reserve Fee. This is a non-refundable fee that secures funds that are crucial to the areas of operation for protecting wildlife, wildlife habitat, supporting communities as well as managing reserves and concessions. Since 2016 Natural Selection has supported over 94 initiatives, 62 in Botswana, 1 in Madagascar, 28 in Namibia and 3 in South Africa.
