About The Hotel

Surrounded by the wonders of the Indian Ocean, One&Only Reethi Rah makes its home on one of the largest islands in North Malé Atoll. A jewel among a string of coral atolls, lagoons and white sands, it is about 700km southwest of Sri Lanka. Island's six kilometres of private coastline includes 12 pristine beaches, two swimming pools and a 30-metre long lap pool stretching into the lagoon. With over 2,000 species of fish found amidst incredible coral reefs, One&Only Reethi Rah is diver's paradise. The PADI Gold Palm and certified Dive Centre is complete with nitrox, rebreathers, underwater scooters and more.

Sustainable Initiatives

Environmentally Conscious

The resort team strives towards minimising environmental footprint by implementing sustainable initiatives and action plans to reduce the use of energy and water as well as effectively managing waste. In collaboration with Sri Lanka's Modern Agri, the resort has developed smart watering system, a hydroponic greenhouse and orchid house. Nature’s Resonance by ESPA works in partnership with eco-tech platform more:trees, to support their commitment to sustainability. For every Nature’s Resonance treatment that is booked globally, trees will be planted according to the length of treatment. Hotel's sustainability mission continues with progressive cuisine. At garden-to-table restaurant Botanica with Matthew Kenney, seasonal produce is sourced from chef's gardens, with responsible supply chains. Since 2018, One&Only Reethi Rah is collaborating with non-profit organosation Parley for the Oceans, collecting over 2,867kg of recyclable plastics to be upcycled by their partners

Coral Conservation

One&Only Reethi Rah has been hard at work protecting and developing the coral reefs that surround resort's private island. By attaching coral fragments onto coral frames, they are able to grow new colonies, which are instrumental in enhancing the biodiversity of existing reef habitats. Replanted coral frames on House Reef now attract a multitude of fish and sea creatures, making it one of the best places to spot resident Hawksbill Turtles while snorkelling.

Turtle Conservation

Joe Rigby is hotel's Sea Turtle Biologist for North Malé Atoll. After studying zoology in England, he became passionate about protecting sea turtles. In 2021 he joined the Olive Ridley Project, looking after the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Centre at One&Only Reethi Rah, carrying out turtle population research and spreading the conservation message. The Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Centre at One&Only Reethi Rah was the first Olive Ridley Project Rehabilitation Centre to open, supporting the work of the vet-run Marine Turtle Rescue Centre in Baa Atoll. It is where many sea turtles spend the last few months of their recovery before they head out into the open ocean again. It also houses injured turtles found in North Malé temporarily before they are flown to the Rescue Centre. Amazingly, it was funded directly by One&Only staff.
