About The Hotel

Harnessing sea and sand, Kisawa Sanctuary pioneers 3D printing for the intrepid traveler. Kisawa is a 300-hectare sanctuary of forest, beach and sand dunes, located on the southern tip of Benguerra Island off Mozambique, on the Eastern coast of Africa. Part of the Bazaruto Achipelago, this WWF National Marine Park is home to some of the richest and least explored subtropical ecosystems in the Indian Ocean. Kisawa features a standalone spa –The Natural Wellness Center – which specialises in Traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. Kisawa is a combination of 12 one, two and three bedroom bungalows, positioned within a 300 hectare stretch of forest, beach and sand dunes. Each bungalow has its own private beach, an open-air deck, an infinity pool, an outdoor day area and kitchen.

Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental Protection and Conservation

The villas were constructed without any heavy machinery, a conscious effort to minimise the hotel’s impact on the environment. On-site dining offers traditional cuisine from the freshest local ingredients and produce, prepared with a zero-waste, no processed ingredients policy. Kisawa has built a network of farmers and fishermen from within the Inhambane province, supplying natural, local produce from within 300km of Kisawa Sanctuary, with as much as possible grown and made in the Kisawa Kitchen. The property is run by a passionate team of 180 staff, with 90% of the operational team from Africa and the remainder of the team combining different expertise from around the world. With sustainability and environmental protection at the helm of the project, Kisawa's Founder Nina Flohr also launched the Bazaruto Center for Scientific Studies, a marine conservation center next to the hotel that enables guests to participate in a variety of activities targeting non-profit marine science and research efforts.
