Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental and Social Responsibility

Twice a month, many of our staff members volunteer to clean up and maintain one of the principal nature trails at Cahuita National Park. The park protects over 55,000 acres of marine area which serves as a nesting ground for sea turtles and houses the largest coral reef on Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast, as well as almost 3,000 acres of coastal land. Once a month the hotel volunteers with the community to clean the nearby beaches as well. The resort is commited to eliminating single use plastic and is adhering to refuse, reduce, reuse and recycle waste managemnt initiative. Aguas Claras is one of the few luxury resort outside of the United States to partner with the Dock to Dish program. Dock to Dish connects our resort to fresh, sustainably-caught fish sourced from our own backyard, avoiding at-risk species and supporting local fishing economies in the process. The majority of staff are local and schooled in English lessons by the hotel.
