Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge
Overlooking hippo pods
About The Hotel
The lodge is set in the remote western reaches of the park on a tributary of the Grumeti River. The permanent waters of the Grumeti and seasonal Mbalageti rivers attract an abundance of wildlife. Resident hippo grunt in the tranquil pools in front of the lodge while crocodiles lie, log-like, in the shallows. Meals can be enjoyed on the extensive deck with beautiful river views, while the dining area opens up to a traditional African boma, where dinner is served. This part of the Serengeti is also
known for its big lion prides. There
are four resident prides in the area,
consisting of between 20 and
up to 60 lions.
