Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental and Social Responsibility

One of the most noteworthy associations of the Camp is with the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation, set up under the guardianship of the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre, a government agency that focuses on the rescue and care of elephants that are rescued from the streets. In addition to the elephant program, the Camp nurtures a strong sense of community providing support for local health care, schooling and other educational projects. As part of the experience, guests can visit the school with the Camp Guides and support the teachers to host their daily lunch break with treats. For those who would like a more hands-on experience, guests can visit The Childlife Orphanage to host an educational afternoon session with the orphanage’s teachers and the Camp's Guide. From foraging walks to learning to cook a local meal, sustainability is the cornerstone of the dining experience at the Camp. Guests can have an immersive experience and learn a trade that’s prevalent along the Mekong. Fishing techniques have developed over thousands of years, and Fishing with Locals trip allows to try first-hand fish trapping and bamboo fishing with local fishermen from the region.
