Environmental Protection and Conservation

Over 50,000 indigenous koa trees are planted through hotel's partnership with Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative. All villas are carbon-neutral – through FS's partnership with the Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative, carbon emissions from every stay are offset by the planting of trees. Soaps and toiletries are recycled and donated to those in need through hotel's partner Clean the World. First-of-its-kind in the state, small batch on-site Boomerang Water bottling plant is utilizing reusable aluminum bottles and nanotechnology to reduce waste and remove any impurities and toxins from the water. Over 75% of the food and beverage ingredients are sourced from local farmers, fisheries and purveyors. The Resort hosts periodic beach clean ups that are open to guests and employees.

Community Empowerment

Employees volunteer in the local community through fundraising and participation in Hawaii Island charitable events, community events for island clean-ups, children’s charities and food drives. Ocean conservation education is offered to local schools on the island while local artists and artisans featured throughout the Resort. Guests can engage in educational tours at local, natural, cultural, historical or heritage sites to learn more about the local community.
