Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental Responsibility

Recycling is actively practiced throughout the Resort, which applies to water recycling and organic waste diversion program in place with food waste collection and conversion off-site into biogas for renewable energy production and compost for agriculture. A glass water-bottling system is in place to remove the requirement for disposable plastic water bottles, allowing the Resort to refrain from using any plastic bottles. The approach to minimising plastic is also seen through use of refillable ceramic containers for bathroom amenities and eco-friendly garbage bags. Throughout the operation, Four Seasons Istanbul at the Bosphorus will ensure optimal energy efficiencies by implementing energy-saving guest room controls and building systems. All cleaning products used are Eco-certified. Soaps and toiletries are recycled and donated to a local university student as part of a biofuel development project.

Community Minded

Guests can engage in educational tours at local, natural, cultural, historical or heritage sites to learn more about the local community, including fashion, art, lifestyle and gastronomy tours and visits to top historic attractions such as the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. Local artists and artisans, including talented painters such as Kenan Işık, featured in the Hotel lobby, terrace and across the property through special exhibitions. Employees volunteer in the local community and support local charities, including various animal shelters and Nigde Cagdas Educational Foundation through participation in the Istanbul Marathon.
