Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental Responsibility

Recycling is actively practiced throughout the Resort, which alongside glass, cans and kitchen, applies to water recycling and organic waste diversion program in place with food waste collection and conversion off-site into biogas for renewable energy production and compost for agriculture. A glass water-bottling system is in place to remove the requirement for disposable plastic water bottles, allowing the Resort to refrain from using any plastic bottles or straws. The approach to minimising plastic is also seen through use of refillable ceramic containers for bathroom amenities and eco-friendly garbage bags. Throughout the operation, The Four Seasons Hong Kong will ensure optimal energy efficiencies, by implementing energy light bulbs or LED lights, infra-red motion sensors, light sensors and timers. All cleaning products used are Eco-certified. Excess food is donated to the local community through Foodlink, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting hunger.

Community Minded

Guests can engage in educational tours at local, natural, cultural, historical or heritage sites to learn more about the local community through hotel's Concierge, including exploring Cantonese cuisine through Footsteps of a Dragon culinary journey with Executive Chef Lung King Heen, the first Chinese chef to earn three Michelin stars; navigating the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery in Sha Tin; learning about the traditional way of life in Tai O; and visiting the fragrant temples and millennia-old rock carvings on idyllic Lantau Island. Artists and artisans featured throughout the Hotel, including works from locally and internationally renowned sculptors and painters such as Kassia Ko, whose Chinese ink paintings adorn the floors of all guest rooms. Employees volunteer in the local community and support local charitable organizations, including Oxfam and the Hong Chi Association.
