Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental Protection and Conservation

More than 60 percent of ingredients are sourced from local farms in Northern Thailand. Many of the vegetables used, including tomatoes and herbs, are grown organically in farms just minutes away from the Resort. The hotel has partnered with a local producer of rare grass-fed Thai wagyu, while the farms in Australia have been selected for their sustainable practices. For more than 25 years, Four Seasons has been deeply connected with the local community in Chiang Mai. From steak knives to resort's serving ware, all details have been handcrafted.Onsite water bottling plants at the hotel eliminate the use of hundreds of thousands of plastic bottles every year. Compostable straws, napkins, and eco-friendly packaging and bags for takeaways are a given at all Four Seasons Resorts of Asia, as are refillable ceramic amenity containers in guest villas, public areas and Spas.

Community Empowerment

Guests can engage in educational tours at local, natural, cultural, historical or heritage sites to learn more about the local community, including a unique rice planting experience on hotel's grounds, Studio Naenna and In Clay Studio pottery workshops for guests who can take home their unique individual creations, and exploring hill-tribe villages and temples. Local artists and artisans are featured throughout the Resort, including pottery from Chii Studio showcased at the restaurant, NORTH, and hotel's retail boutique. Local community support program is in place, including the donation of rice cultivated on the property to local charities, and bicycles, dry food, and guest room amenities donations to the School of Disabled Children and School of Young Children in Mae Rim. The hotel is providing toilet installations and bicycle donations to a local orphanage and or student scholarships to the Baansankhayorm School and actively supports Baan Panghai School through the Heinicke Foundation.
