Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental Protection and Conservation

Constance Moofushi supports biodiversity conservation. Natural protected areas, areas of high biodiversity value are served to educate the divers about the protected zone before starting their diving program. A “Nature Guide Booklet” offered in each villa provides information on native wildlife and plant species that are found on the island. Moreover, the “Green News magazine” featured on the in-house TV channel in guests’ villas also raises awareness and promote the resort’s sustainability practices including building coral frames. All souvenirs are made by locals and are made with coconut husk/ leaves, wood and woven materials. These can be found in the on-site boutiques and their purchase is encouraged to support native crafts. At Constance Moofushi, substantial efforts were made to drastically reduce the usage of plastic. From the restaurants to the Villas, all plastic bottles have been replaced with reusable glass water bottles. The resort is organizing recycling competition on the occasion of Global Recycling Day. The winner of the competition is making an eco-friendly bottle out of coconut shells to replace all existing plastic sanitiser containers. This project will be implemented as part of the hotel's actions in banning plastic and promoting recycling.
