About The Hotel

COMO Laucala Island is a private island resort in Fiji's Cakaudrove province where private charters can land directly.

Residence interiors are softly curved and full of free-flowing shapes. Thatched roofs are made from the leaves of sago palms, floors are laid with local timber, and the spaces also feature ‘balabala’ fern stems and a traditional coconut husk weave known as ‘magimagi’.

Surrounded by blue Melanesian waters and lush greenery, COMO Laucala Island offers a range of extraordinary activities including an 18-hole golf course flanked by sea and mountains, horseback riding, diving and more.

Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental Protection and Conservation

Being self-sustainable is the dream at Como Laucala Island, made a reality by the 240-acre farm. The hotel grows its own organic fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices; breeds its own poultry and wagyu cattle; and bottles its own honey and volcanic mineral water. The fish and seafood featured in the restaurants are sourced exclusively from local fishermen. The island also organizes regular beach clean ups and encourages guests to take part in coral and mangrove planting. LED bulbs and energy-efficient systems are used. All Como Shambhala products are free of harmful substances and made with eco-friendly ingredients.

Farm to table

Executive Chef Daniel Boller often leads this bespoke experience, or your personal Tau will guide you in a sustainable discovery that covers the main farm area, herb garden, nursery, hydroponic garden and fruit orchard by vehicle. The tour continues to the other side of the island, where gusts will be able to visit the horse stables offering freshly split coconuts as treats, survey hotel's Wagyu and Longhorn cattle grazing paddocks, piggery, as well as the poultry shed populated with prized Austrian Sulmtaler chickens. Guests can pick vanilla pods used for desserts and ice-cream, stop by the beehives for a taste of island honey, collect chicken, duck or quail eggs for their breakfast. Guests will also gain insight into the traceability of the food during their stay, with menus crafted from local produce which can also be adapted to plant-based and organic diets if necessary.
