About The Hotel

Wilderness Bisate is a sustainably luxurious rainforest-based lodge offering Africa's most thrilling wild primate experience. Bisate sits on the doorstep of one of Africa’s oldest national parks, Volcanoes National Park. It provides a sanctuary to hundreds of the world’s 1,000 endangered mountain gorillas – as well as other creatures such as golden monkeys, bushbuck, buffalo, occasional elephant, and more than 200 bird species.

Six sublime en-suite forest villas, designed as an homage to Rwandan royalty, overlook unforgettable vistas over brooding Bisoke, Karisimbi and Mikeno volcanoes. A wine cellar, library, spa, restaurant, and tree nursery, woven through with warm hospitality complete this natural wonder.

Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental and Social Responsibility

Wilderness Bisate is a celebration of life in Rwanda. It embraces a nourishing Earth-to-plate food journey, visionary reforestation programme, community initiatives, and rich wildlife, with a fierce passion to conserve and protect the beauty of this land, and all who call it home. Bisate’s vegetable garden is an ecosystem intended to be sustainable and self-sufficient. Bisate menu comprises seasonal ingredients for freshness, the majority of which are from its own garden. The lodge also supports the communities already growing crops, and source red-skinned and wonderfully starchy potatoes, as well as eggs, organic and free range, from Bisate's neighbours.
