Sustainable Initiatives

Environmental and Social Responsibility

The Sanctuary’s Social Impact Programme encourages guest participation in several local projects, from supporting the nearby Pelmey Nunnery to sharing a meal with local farming families. The Sanctuary grows organic food (on-site food production) and purchases local goods (farm-to-table concept). The produce in its own gardens and greenhouse are treated and grown organically, on-site composting facilities have been introduced as well. Guests are encouraged to walk, hike and cycle around the Neyphu Valley, and save some space in their suitcases to bring much needed supplies to support local families and animals through the Sanctuary’s partnership with Pack for a Purpose. Locally made jewellery, clothing, and accessories can be purchased from a boutique store within the Sanctuary, hanging alongside wall paintings by local artists. Together with the Loden Foundation, The Sanctuary is supporting Social Impact Program through which guests have the opportunity to support local entrepreneurs. The focus of all projects is to create economic independence either by providing free loans, skills training, and mentoring.
