About The Hotel

One of the most luxurious Relais & Chateaux retreats in the one of the most remote locations in the world – 14 cabins are spread around a central lodge in the wilderness, all with views of the iconic Chilean Patagonia mountain. When you stay at Awasi, you get your own personal tour guide for all your excursions.

Each villa is made from local wood and based on the region’s traditional estancia buildings. The secluded, stand-alone suites are set away from the main building, with views of the surrounding forest, Lake Sarmiento and the Torres del Paine.

Environmental Conservation

Awasi protects 340 hectares of native woodland in Iguazú and Patagonia. These areas absorb over 10,000 tonnes of CO2 per year and this amount is greater than the emissions generated by all three lodges, including the travel emissions of the guests. As much locally sourced, seasonal food grown on-site is featured in the hotel restaurant’s menu. Everything that can be is recycled or composted, including grey water, and the hotel offsets its carbon emissions. The hotel's construction used local woods that match the surroundings and the hotel is officially carbon neutral – the forest areas protected and maintained by Awasi more than offset the emissions generated by the three lodges.

Animal conservation

Every lodge is also involved in conservation efforts through the Awasi Foundation. Since Awasi Patagonia borders the Torres del Paine National Park, the foundation established a ‘natural corridor’ by leasing land from neighbouring farms, effectively increasing the amount of protected land. Awasi guides help monitor the puma populations and keep hunters away – even during the off-season – and the foundation also works with scientists and researchers to gather information about the behavioural patterns of several native species.
